Smoke still rises from the ground where a downed power line on Route 1 ignited the grass near Stratton Estates. Traffic in the area was slowed as firefighters extinguished the flames.
Just before 4 p.m. March 18, Central Maine Power Co. listed nearly all of Islesboro without power as well as more than 400 Northport residences. It was estimated power would be restored around 5:15 p.m.
