Multiple fire departments were called to a house fire in the area of 582 Veteran's Highway at about 12:18 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.
The home belonged to Gordon Wood, who was doing renovations in the kitchen when the fire broke out. According to Brooks Fire Chief Jeffrey Archer, Wood was applying adhesive when a heat source ignited fumes and started a flash fire. A Fire Marshal determined the fire was accidental.
