Multiple fire departments were called to a house fire at 582 Veteran's Highway at about 12:18 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.
According to neighbor Douglas Stuart, the home belonged to Gordon Wood, whose father owned a hardware store in Brooks. Wood built the house himself several years ago, Stuart said.
